but i guess expect less than other does not work because we always expect that we get more while others get less :) heheh

Thanks chinmoy ji, that is good!
Yes he said it but got most of what others did not get. Worked lesser than others did still when some biggies say some thing wh have to say 'aye aye sir'. You are right sir.. :woohoo:
Actually all three lines are true..But third one is quite hard to follow.. as my expectation always stay high. Lol

I also think so...... :)
The criteria of success has changed since Shakespearean times. Now if you get less and give more,m you are considered failure. We had many persons like Gulzari Lal Nanda Ex P.M., Lal bahadur shastri, Ex. P.M., Comrade Ram Kishan, Ex C.M. Punjab- all who gave more and got nothing. They are considered 'failure'. success stories are of D.Raja, Maya vati, Mulayam Singh. Failures are anna hazare, Kejriwal.
"Know more than other" - about others we are correct!!!
"Work more than other" - in our own matter it is correct!!!
"expect less than other" - never!!!!!!!!!

I agree. If you know more and work more, why expect less. But you may reduce your demand to stay in competition.

Perhaps he might have quoted it to fit some situation. Hoping, you remember the contradictory proverbs listed by Swetha some days before.
Disappointed once again with the answers! Many missed the profound spin in Shakespearean comments. He was wise enough to emphasize whatever is humanly possible and the third sentence carried even greater significance.By expecting less he never meant that we should not be ambitious but just to avoid the mortal pangs of burden of expectations. Even in Geeta that immotal sloka comes to mind:
"Karmanye Adhikarasthu, maa faleshu kadachan.
The sentence itself is ok....we should never be over ambitious. If we do Karma without expectations, we will get happiness and won't get into the world of sorrows. But when we are connecting all sentences with present conditions, something somewhere is not connected.... :(
There are logical connects and perhaps a discerning reader should not miss them. All our immortal sages, poets, dramtists utter something which have eternal messages for us transcending all time barriers. To me these sentences sum up the spirits of our times too!!
Work more than others with honesty, you will be paid high.It may be in intangible also.
For getting success we just need to be honest and do hard work

Expecting less than others always keep me happy. :)

People feel sad when they expect more and don't get as per their expectations. :)

That's right if you know more than others and work more than others definitely you are going to get more than others.
If we know more than other and if we work more than other, then its obvious that we will expect more than others.
But,here it say expect less. Its afirmative,if we will expect less,we will get more. :)
Good Thought.I like it.
Expectation from ourself,is always high, but it depends on the input we put,to get a good output.
Your slogan is very good. Its a nice quotation by William shakespeare
Expect nothing with other. And do hard work for getting success.

Be positive.
