It is actually Vinod's idea to start such a thread. Just a difference that I am starting this one, on behalf of him. :)
Let us learn some simple and common words of some languages. I think, we can get only Indian words.
As life is a big canvas of different colours, let us start our learnings with different shades of colours.
I am quoting some colours giving meaning in English. Please add your word in your mother tongue. I think, by this way, we can learn at least 7-8 languages. Am I not right?
I am starting with colours. After sometime, another member should start another set of words in his language and we people give its word in our mother tongue. Hoping this thread will continue as a game and not dissappear from our forum very soon.

Akka, I know Hindi little bit. But not fluently. But, I can understand hindi fully.. :laugh: :lol:

Actually, I am seeing(?) first Tamilian in my life who says, "I know Hindi". Actually, your state hates Hindi, isn't it? But, nowadays Hindi is taught at school. My cousins know Hindi a little bit :P

Also in tamilnadu govt. schools only doesn't teach hindi. Matriculation school always have hindi as subject. :laugh:

Daada and daadi- Grand father/mother (Father's parents)

Actually no exact sentence in Malayalam.....we ask...Sukhamaano.

Actually, in Malayalam, for giving respect, very often, we use their names itself, for asking some thing avoiding......you.
We two forget to add words of grand father and grand mother i also didnt notice this.. Ok you given correct words in tamil. so, now im writing in sourashtra

we use thantha and thalla also.....but not common..also, some times show less respect.
