Today an unpredicted harthal is conducted by BJP all over Thrissur District, Kerala related to Paliakkara toll booth.
When they occur unexpectedly, it will surely affect many persons' daily schedule and plans. Harthals are often good  . But is it good to announce them just before one day, which may not give people suitable time to make arrangements for the next day? What is your opinion?

Harthal or bandh are same word? Any way it depends upon the situation and sector on which the strike is called. It is said by the all political parties that it is the last weapon,So sudden bandh effects the daily worker very much.
Harthals and bandhs have same effect and these words are often used in the same way. I think so. :)
Strike is worst form of protection, this is mostly to stop the life to stand still stage. I am dead against it for however genuine reason.
Sandhya,
You are right.Last week a Keralite in a casual talk told about a Hartal experience in New Delhi where he faced no troubles at all in any sense!God's own country has some specialities in all these!!!
I am against strikes, Harthal or Bandh. These obstruct work and public order. There should be alternative methods of protest. It is okay to organize rally and demonstrate before concerned authority. Sending written protest to concerned authority also is an alternative.

Even a minor incident can bring here Harthal overnight. It is the 2nd one this month. Next week also, there is one.
Many of our calculations fail if they are announced at last moment.
Today morning, I saw my husband shocked reading newspaper. Since year end, a lot of pending work. He might have made some calculations about today's activities. But what to do? :(
Bandh is the last and valuable weapon but most of the political parties misused it,they use it first. So it loose its importance.
These party people think that all people will accept this. They should realise that common people don't like this drama.

Still, there are many people who love hartaal and bandhs.....Students and of course most employees

Students of course. But employees have nothing to do good on that day and they might not accept.
These are nothing but sheer nuisance and our courts have come strongly against them but then who cares?
Actually the mob mentality that takes over the actual cause of these strikes are the worst part. I am dead against this form of protest in any case. This is kind of blackmailing at the cost of general public.
Recently a motley crowd gathered and disrupted railway service at a station in West bengal for 9-long hours for a laughable issue and the Railways intervened after things went haywire! Just think of it!!

"It happens only in India"
In a highly populated country like India......and of course inefficient leaders sitting in the top, it is really difficult to bring law and order or execute them in a suitable way to avoid such incidents in future.
Harthals can be done for a valid reason, its not wrong. But it can be done for simple and minor reasons. People are conducting Harthals to turn the Government's attention towards them and their problems.
Is tomorrow Bharat Bhandh? I heard so :silly:

He is really a nice boy and only one member whom I added as my friend is Alam. :)
He is marrying a Hindu girl according to Hindu tradition and changing his name to 'Chandan' only to get her. Isn't he nice?
Let me wish him a good married life in advance
