My cousin sister's nick name is 'bommi' same meaning....doll. They are at Tamil Nadu.
My relatives and neighbours know me as 'Sheeja'. Also my parents. Many of my neighbours or people of my native place don't know 'Sandhya'.
So Sheeja Shaiju is a best combination.
Friends and often my husband call be 'Sandhu' :)

I think this is okay if some one wants to keep it his nickname a personal matter as that may be for real near and dear ones.
