As there are so many awards given on this site, should't there be something called " Article of the week" based on the content and quality of the article.....this will boost the writers as well as members who aim at writing good.......the award need not be in terms of money or points as we already get it.....it could be an encouraging appreciation....that would be enough

Just wanted your suggestions on this idea........

Really a great idea. It will really activate its members to write good quality articles rather than concentrating on number of words used in it.
I think this will create fight between members if they had not given award.

No sasi,

I think it will be a good initiative. People will concentrate to improve the quality of their articles. It will really help us. I think so.
Just wait and see how the admin will react to this one...
Yes, admin should think about this. I think this will be bit difficult to them
i think it would be a great boost up.......After all the main asset of this site is the articles posted by its members......
Ya smriti you are right it can give a boost to the members but it totally depends upon adminstration.
The idea is undoubtedly great but I doubt if the site has that number of capable editors to make it a success!
I think many of the moderators have the ability to do so.
Everyday, at the time of editing itself, each editor can choose best 1 or 2 which he feels good. After 1 week, admin need to go through those selected ones only. If so, it will be a very easy task.
It will really increase the quality of articles posted.
Sandhya it is much difficult to announce article of the week
even i agree with Sandhya....of course it would be an extra burden on part of the editors....but it is after all for the benefit of the site........ :)
This is very great idea. in our office also this type of award is given every month to employee in content team who write the best article.
This is very good idea and it will motivate all members to write more articles.:)
I don't see any reply on the part of any from the administration to this very imaginative suggestion!
Chinmoy, I remember sometime back we have implemented similar award. Somehow it was not continued. Yes it is very good idea to attract good articles. But the implementation should be transparent and effective, otherwise the motivation would be lost.

My suggestion would be:

1. The articles should be nominated by the authors themselves.
2. The best articles should be selected by the other members by voting/comments/reviews.
3. A panel of moderators should decide the winner (not just by user votes or by comments but also with their own reviews)
4. In case no good article submitted the award will be discarded for that week.

These are some of my ideas but I request you to share your thoughts.
It is really a nice suggestion that articles should be nominated by authors themselves. It will make its implementation process more easy.
I think, word count should be given less preference than the quality of the article and variety of subjects selected. Sometimes, it require more effort to write a small article of 300 words than an article of 1500 words. I personally believe so.
All the 4 points given by you are really nice and I think, every member will approve them.
Also one more suggestion from my side.
A member cannot nominate himself for more than 3 articles per week. If so, moderators work will be much minimized.
