Yes. But I don't think such process while bring any progress in finding solution to many problems.
It is really a bad idea!
Most people are disciplined and they gather at meetings peacefully to listen. The mischievous elements are very few but the bizarre and foolish actions draw more attention.

Some people do this only to get some sort of publicity, I think so.
Friends publicity is less but insult is more. The guy who has thrown shoe was arrested. May be he was beaten. He won't be able to make space in society. Party workers won't pardon him. Youth should think about their life and future before attempting anything in public to politician or other celebrities. Sometimes celebrities are wrong but we should handle situation in diplomatic way.

Anyone- celebrity or we- may be right or wrong. Nobody is either right or wrong all times. Moreover, right or wrong can be decided only by proper discussion, expression and patient listening. If we do not like a leader's views, we have decent means to express. Ultimately, we may give our opinion through ballot.
This seems to becoming an international trend now. We can see such incidents every where including US politicians to Indian politicians. This is replacing showing black flags, I guess. I am not sure weather the shoes or black too.
Few may be aware of the 'shoe' show for political and diplomatic purposes. I remember that Prime Minister Khrushchev was the first to express his anger by thumping his desk with shoe in United Nations. All were astonished at his behavior. He regretted saying that he could not control his temper.
