Can animals commit suicide?

Yes. I think it is only one particular type of ants.

In our locality a strange incident happened which is frequently narrated by elderly people which relates to a pet. This one master dog refused to have any food from the day his master died to die two days after!

Similar incident took place at our neighbourhood years before.
There was a grandpa. A dog was his best companion. Hours after the grandpa died, the dog also died. The dog was also buried near him and in his tomb, a statue of dog was also made. :(

Sarala I don't think it was commited suicide it may have happened accident.

This is from my own recent experience. I saw a funeral procession with a dog in it! Later I heard that it was the pet of the deceased!

Years before, my uncle had a dog. His children also loved them so dearly that they give him the name of their most favourite cricketer. They named him as "Ganguly" :laugh:

Yes chinmoy jee I had seen many of dogs like this.They will cry when their owners died means.

It is well established that they can emote even better than us!!

Yes chinmoy jee that dog did not come to home and it was staying at the grave yard and cried for long time and it died there itself.

We are talking about animals and their unique nature and there are scores of stories based on real-life experiences. Even street dogs are known to be human friendly!

This is really a very funny forum according to me animal cannot suicide like a human being.

The answer is yes and know, as much as I remember that a specie of birds commit mass suicide although I have forgotten the name of the same.
