Sandhya rani it opened in the morning i posted a link also from this but now it was blocked.
Let us wait for our friends' posts. Perhaps they might have some knowledge regarding this, about black listing. Also want to know, whether it will be affected in future.
yes sandhya, wikipedia has blocked the english version. But, still we can access by mobile device and smart phones.
There are some problem between Govt. and Google.May be this is the cause.
There may be some problem technically. It may resolved in few hours.
the sites says that they are blacking out due to a legislation by U.S Congress which could affect the usage of free and open internet.so we cannot access it for the next 24 hours.
Yes there is issue going towards government and google this also may be a cause.
All governments and societies have their own idea about freedom of expression. But the media including internet demand unrestricted freedom. This is the problem. It is the time governments restrict their own tendency to control expression. Let the people be judge. I support Wikimedia totally.

can you make it much more clear? What is the problem with Wikipedia?

Wikipedia is a source of information. The source must be free of any restrictions. The users expect to know everything by using Wikipedia. If Wikipedia fails, users will feel cheated. The United states government wants to restrict this free flow of information. In fact, all governments want to restrict free flow of information.

I support the free flow of information and oppose government tendency to restrict.
Always US feels they are superior to others and ruling everyone. They can't bring such rules which benefits only a minority of people. If we search google with a keyword, thousands sites open before us. But I truely believe, most of users will first click the link to Wikipedia, if it is provided for that keyword. I think it is the only site with 99% accuracy.
i totally support Wikipedia.....and the effort that has been put to build that site could not go wasted...its really ruthless to ban the free internet.
its a really strong move and it has affected people all over the world...and im sure it has proved its point.
These cases generally occurred due to some technical reasons just like server error and are fixed soon..

Isha, two things, firstly, the blacking out of Wikipedia was not technical but it was intentional to protest against certain legislations slated to pass in the US Parliament which would seriously affect information business.

Secondly, this issue is a month old and you are late to add comment about it. Before posting any reply, I suggest you check the date of the thread and whether it is relevant at the time of your reply.
I think, this topic should be locked now. Can you do it, Kalyani?
