Is Bhagwat Geeta an instigator of violence, disputes and social unrest in society. Hindus may read some deeper meaning in the holy book.
But others may consider this just as a story of fight over land between cousins, namely Pandava and kaurava. Oterwise peaceful citizens may be instigated by this book to settle their differences on land and other private maters through violence. This is what a section in Siberia (Russian territory) feels. So, a ban on this book is being considered.
any comments?

As per the latest information Russian government has condemned it and it's a mad act of a subordinate court. All we can rest assured whether this is considered as sacred document or not, this one is an invaluable heritage of human civilization, it has survived and it would survive against all odds!
Bhagwat Geeta is not only an instigator of violence, disputes and social unrest in society it has many lessons to learn.I think after reading the whole book one may be changed as a perfect man.
All are not likely to give that type of importance to Geeta as Hindus or may be other Indians may. We should not be very sensitive to such issues. Ironically, some sections view that there is a tendency to defame Hindus. Sushma Swraj has said that Geeta should be declared our national book so that nobody may oppose this. This is obviously ridiculous. Then, if other religious books like mahabharata or Ramayana are banned, these may also have to be declared as national book
Personally, I think that no book should be banned unless this is obscene or generates hatred among communities.

It is possible that the some of the verses might have been misinterpreted in the Russian version, there should be a study of that and also the probable reasons of what led to the ban. In any case, no book should ever be banned unless it contains material of obscene nature and hatred between communities.
Also I agree with Chinmoy, banning of Bhagwat Geeta by one government is not going to have any effect on its popularity, neither is it going to make any difference to Indians!

In contast to the above, I read an interesting piece of news in a Marathi daily, there is a place called Hastinapur established on 12-acre land in Argentina. This places contains 12 temples of 12 Hindu Gods such as Ganesha, Vishnu, Hanuman etc. Hastinapur is founded by local Argentinians who are converted devout Hindus, follow a typical Hindu vegetarian lifestyle. They have courses on a number of Hindu philosophical books such as Bhagwat Geeta, Upanishads, Bhakti Sutras, yog Sutras etc. Their latest publication is Mahabharatha in Spanish. They have so far published three volumes and plan to do a total of twelve volumes in the coming years. Each volume is over 500 pages. The founder Alda Albrecht and other members of the Foundation have also written a number of books.
I did a Google search after I read the story and I found this link:

Bhagavad Gita cannot be understood by reading it like a novel or story but studying it like a subject of philosophy and it takes time.If you read it you will just find stories of brothers fighting and Krishna inspiring to fight a war!.But if you study it you will know what the war and the characters signifies. The symbolic nature of all religious books has to be understood and not just the literal meaning.Lack of this insight to understand the deep layers is the root cause of all the bigotry and fanaticism.
The actual issue here is not about what is written in the book but has its origin from the growing intolerance and fanaticism to other religious teachings.
A ban means nothing to this great book which stood the test of time and continue to inspire great minds all over the world. But considering the religious sentiments and because it is a book that represent our national character, India undoubtedly should intervene and must do whatever can be done.

I think in all stories there are some plus and some minus point but in Bhagvat Geeta there is no minus point because fight win by true team.
We cannot say that the winner is always true. In fact, in olden times the history was written by sword and not pen. The courtier poets would write in favor of winning side/ king as it was no use praising the vanquished.
Now let us come to the issue on ban on Geeta- case before a Russian court. It is nice that the Hindus in Russia are contemplating to build a grand Krishna temple in Moscow. It is better to do affirmative and positive action than indulge in disputes.

The lower court in Russia had rejected the ban petition on Bhagwat Gita as it is. Now there is move to appeal against order of court as Russian translation of the book is likely to cause tension and quarrels in the society. It is also viewed that the translation in Russian may not be true meaning of the Bhagwat Gita.
If so, the translation can be reviewed by experts and the Russian edition got properly re-translated instead of banning the book.

It is believed that no stories in the world has come into existence without the influence of Mahabharata. You take any story. It will surely have something in common with this great epic.
It is believed that Mahabharat was written by Ganapathi for Vyasa in one day. It may be true or false. But the ideas hidden in each and every line of the epic can be interpreted in 1000 ways, particularly, the great 18 episodes of Bhagavat gita. Each time we read this book, we will get new ideas and knowledge for sure.
It is believed that if we study Gita, there is no need for any other knowledge. It is true for all holy books of all religions. They all teach the same thing, though they used different illustrations.
How much time can a dark cloud hide the sun? It is not possible. So, I believe for sure, even if they try 1000 times, they won't become success as it is told, "People throw stones only at the trees with fruits"
