Lok Pal Bill before cabinet

Let the Bill be enacted in the form the cabinet has approved in Parliament and if there be any deficiency in any respect that can be always be taken care of by appropriate amendments!

One thing is clear that passing a bill in parliament will not stop corruption.

What I hear now that BJP is unhappy and has decided to take a call on the bill once it is presented in Parliament!

The bill is being presented in parliament today. Possibly, this has been amended. Even after presentation, amendments can be issued. Team anna is resorting to agitation by three day fast and jail Bharo thereafter. It will be better that opposition parties discuss the bill in parliament and propose amendments as they consider proper. Team anna can also stress upon their viewpoints and any amendment they consider necessary. Needless to say unanimous decision is seldom arrived at. Ultimately majority in parliament has its way.

Now CBI is out of lokpal and the PM is inside.Don't know what else will occur.

The bill is tabled in Parliament today and BJP memners have raised several questions as to the constitutional validity of it!

The bill has been revised and tabled in parliament withdrawing the earlier one. The members opposed to the bill in some respects can discuss their viewpoints during discussion and propose amendments. The part of the bill regarding constitutional amendment will require two third majority while the other can be passed by simple majority. UPA does not have even simple majority in Rajya Sabha. So, without consent of opposition particularly BJP, the bill cannot be passed. It is feared that the waiting period for bill is not yet over.

Yesterday Lallu Prasad was in his elements rubbishing the entire movement. He and his fellow brothers have a lot to fear from an effective Lok Pal Act!

I agree. The bill must be discussed in an environment of goodwill and mutual respect for all. The treasury benches should respect views of opposition and also social groups particularly anna team. The opposition and team anna, particularly, Kejriwal, should also not display unnecessary bad temper and negativity towards politicians in general and congress in particular. The constitutional validity is the main problem that it faces from its first step.

Ram I agree with you, no number of bills or Law can stop corruption untill and unless citizens wake up and protest it with great fervour.

It appears that the political parties are playing vote bank politics through Lok pal Bill. Instead of ensuring that Lok pal is given enough power and mechanism is created to curb corruption, the ruling alliance is resorting to reservation on basis of religion in the Lok pal panel.

I know this that the politicians dont like this.If it came it is not possible for them to be honestly.

The politicians and government are more interested in corruption of NGOs getting foreign funds. This is also good as many shrines, institutions get money from abroad and many including anna team indulge in activities that are in fact engineered by foreign powers. The anna team is interested in combating corruption of politicians and bureaucrats but want to save corrupt businessmen, (un)men and NGOs getting foreign funds and working for their foreign masters. Nobody is interested in combating corruption of all. Moreover, vote bank politics gets priority over real anti corruption.

No politician supports anna Hazare. Even the parties that oppose the Lok pal Bill introduced in Lok Sabha have their own reasons. They do not support Anna Hazare's version in toto. Rather it appears that the parties are addressing their vote banks instead of considering real issue of Lok Pal.

Instead of debate, there is confrontation. Sonia Gandhi has asked her party men to rebuff the team anna by winning more seats in forthcoming elections. It is not understood whether these elections will be only on Lok Pal issue. Moreover, the elections will be between political parties and not between anna team and congress. However, if anna team only opposes congress without contesting elections, this will be funny as no political party is either honest or anna supporter.

Here lies the whole problem! Such an attitude only strengthens the forces who work outside parliament. I am sure these leaders are wittingly or unwittingly playing into the hands of Mr. Hazare, vindicating his stand!

Now the Lok Pal issue is taking very funny turn. Battle is drawn on this issue. Anna team is going to court arrest and fast. Anna is characterized as an army deserter and RSS agent.
