Sukh Ram former telecom minister has made a plea for lighter punishment because of his age of eighty six years.

should he make such a request. This actually makes no sense. He can obviously not be sentenced to death. He can only be imprisoned. already he is in custody. So, the sentence of imprisonment makes no difference. He needs to live very long to serve a long jail sentence. So, why he should bother.

How much can you punish. He can only be sent to jail. The court may award fine and jail only. The accused is already nearing ninety. So even life imprisonment may not exceed five years for him. Moreover, even during jail, his medical expenses will be borne by jail. At his advanced age, he will need more hospitalization. There appears no way to award really strict punishment to him.
Punishment should be equal for all who commits crime. He may be senior citizen but he has done serious crime. Rest depends on law making bodies.
. They are eating people money and they want less punishment?..He should not be bothered, punishment should be unique.
