We had known the garlic is used for BP only but now the medical sciences are confirmed taking garlic daily helps reducing of Heart attack.

I know this before only Garlic is a good medicine for heartacttacks.

Lal bahadhur sastri used to have Raw garlic early morning as it is good for heart.

garlic....seems like almost all the natural ayurvedic elements we have has many uses.we Indians are not realizing it...
I have been a botany student and have studied the benefits of garlic. Few have been mentioned in the discussion but the most important one in my opinion is that the aged garlic is very rich in antioxidants which protects the body against premature ageing and also against the deadly cancer. However, garlic is also known to cause allergy in some people and those undergoing surgery and taking some serious medication should consult doctors .
Lopamudra can you give us some more details about the garlic.
Ya it does as it helps to reduce the effect of fats and carbohydrates so it decreases the heart attack cases also.
So taking the garlic makes free from heart diseases. :)
if garlic can reduce heart attacks...then its use in indian foods is justified....more people should use it...
Garlic is considered as an useful spice with various health benefits. It is said to beneficial for cardiac problems and cholesterol management. However, it has to be kept in mind that Garlic alone can not be a treatment for any disease. Garlic has very high sulphur content which may not suit every individual. Overdose of any thing can cause adverse effect to ones health. Garlic is more effective when taken raw( which in my opinion is not an appetising option) or mildly fried. While using in our Indian cooking, in dals or as 'tadka' in other vegetables, it should not be allowed to turn deep brown. Crushed garlic also gives a distinctive taste when added to pizza sauce or other continental dishes.

Garlic is not only useful for bp, heart problems but is also useful for digestion if taken in reasonable quanities. In india due to certain religious beliefs people avoid onion and garlic but wake up people, nothing wrong if taken in reasonable quantities and we are not saints when we live normal life so should not imitate them.
Taking garlic daily makes in control of lungs diseases.This can be used in winter more.Taking this as a juice helps more.

Right Sasikanth, in winters garlic is very useful. when it is too cold outside to maintain our body temperature , garlic is very useful.
Having Garlic juice and honey in equal ration helps in preventing cold in winter season.

can you share some more information about Garlic? Usually i throw the aged garlic.here after i wont do it.
We to prepare garlic pickles which is chewed by even children.THey enjoy it well.
