Frequent petrol price hike is result of deregulation of petrol prices by government and allowing market forces to play. Mamata Banerjee is also raising her objection to Petrol prices. But it appears that her criticism is not genuine as she has supported deregulation of petrol prices. This is what Pranab Mukherjee has to say about Mama Banerjee's criticism.

Not only politicians general public is also against rise in petrol price. When general public question them, they keep silent.

The Govt. is playing to the tunes of the oil companies and it is the common man on the street who is the most affected by these prices. In fact, deregulation of prices was a major mistake by the Govt. as it brought about these spate of price hikes from the Oil companies.

the biggest mistake of the government was allowing the oil companies to decide the rate of petrol/diesel.petrol price is not decided by the government now,they can only control it to some extent.
