There are reports of wife-sharing in Haryana. The male female ratio is favor of males. Hence, there are fewer brides for boys. Hence the lucky ones have to share their wives with brothers or perhaps with others also. This is natural consequence of foeticide and killing baby girls soon after birth.

Cases like Munni are obviously on the increase in rural part of India. This is because of the belief that having a male child gives you 'karma' in life. Because of this female feotus are killed by way of abortion or infant killing of the girl child. This practice is banned but people, whether literate or illiterate are still practising such evil things.

To me, it appears that sheer individualism and lack of community or national spirit is cause of many ills- dowry, corruption, female foeticide etc. The individuals have lure for male child because of orthodox beliefs and dowry system. They little realize that proper ale- female ratio is necessary. We need boys and girls equally.
