Udaipur (Rajasthan) witnessed a bizarre act by some self styled puritans. A group of men and women stripped a man and a married woman and publicly humiliated them.See more in the link. The man and woman were alleged of illegitimate relation. The police came in action suo moto after a TV channel telecast live images of the outrage.

In some rural areas this panchayat system is still followed and the punishments given by them is really very harsh.

Yes still we are in developing country the panchayat systems in villages are there they behave like animals according to the judegement.

It is no use blaming Taliban and other Middle East countries for ill treatment of women. It is no use blaming west for low moral standard and decency. Indian way of treating woman is worst. There is another case of Dalit woman paraded named by a wealthy family in U.P.
