The congress is feeling danger of extinction in West Bengal. Congress is already insignificant in many states. It is likely that Congress could ally with the left in due course either directly or indirectly in state politics.
The Congress leaders from west Bengal met Rahul Gandhi and expressed the view that Trinmool congress aims at decimating congress with a view to occupy the non left space. They also sought decision to go alone in local body elections.
