Any guesses on what the next GD topic will be?
I am just hoping it will be something "new" rather than on the lines of Anna's movement and India's win against corruption.
We want something new and "different"; right guys?

I agree with you Kimberley on the pretext that variety is the spice of life and a new and interesting topic would be enough to bring in a high level participation from the members and would be worth participating in it...
It is very hard to give a guess on what topic the upcoming GD might be but I am sure that it would be an interesting one!!!

I may suggest next topic. This may be on electoral reforms. The likely topics are: (1) Should there be law for recall of elected candidate before completion of term and in what circumstances. (2) Should there be an option 'not any of these.
In fact, these are next on agenda of Anna team. We may debate before they begin their movement.

I Agree Kimberley! Corruption, government policies etc. etc. have been discussed again and again! Why don't you suggest some topic too, i.e, if you have something in mind?

Those are some very good topics.
I would like to suggest a few, on totally different lines:
1. Beauty pageants - a celebration of womanhood or a humiliation to women?
Beauty pageants are always surrounded by controversies, especially in India, for the way they portray women.
2. Is the medical profession becoming more of a business?
We hear of so many incidences in the Medical world, that make us wonder about this profession which was once considered a sacred one. Is it turning into just any other business?
3. Is it possible to run a business ethically and still be successful?
There are several business that "flex" the rules in order to be more successful. In some cases this flexing of rules leads to unethical practices, which are overlooked in order to safeguard the company. But does the need to run a successful business justify unethical means?
well... I could go on and on Kalyani, but then nobody would be listening. All would be bored to death! ;)
Those are really good topics mentioned by the members and I think a topic should be as such which would be appealing and easy to understand and comment by most of the members so that they can at least participate in it.
In the recent past I noticed one GD topic which was related with politics got very less participants and if I could remember properly only three to four members contested on that GD and among those four, the length of the two members posts were like mobile messages....

A good topic is suggested by Santosh and topics like this is always good to discuss and debate. I would also like to suggest that topics like a) Effect of western culture of Indian youth, Love marriages or arrange marriages- which one is better and c) Online dating chats has nothing to do with searching for soul mates etc are nice enough to add to the list.... :)

Good topics but we have already covered the medical profession in the past! Beauty pageants is worth considering! The third topic is good too but I wonder if it will fetch much participation! Anyways we have got lots of GDs lined up and can give them all a try!
This is perhaps the right way where members have a say on the topics of group discussion. Just see the level of participants in the present GD which once again reflects the fact what a good topic can do when it comes about participating in it....
Ajay, members have always had a say in choosing the topics for GD! n fact I have posted a thread inviting Suggestion for Group discussion. A while back I had refreshed that thread in the hopes of getting more innovative topics from newer members but had failed to invite good suggestions.

Kimberley, you are welcome! In fact, frequent helping with a little bit of yelping is good to keep us all on our toes!
