How to name U.P. & M.P. residents?

Really very tough call but I have heard people in general calling a resident of Uttar Pradesh as "Uttar Pradeshi" or an "UP"ian.

I can suggest onething the name is "uttar wallas" it is easy to speak.

For the madhya pradesh ones the people can call as Madhya wala.

I am not a regional minded person. But it is practically necessary to indicate your city and state for some purposes and also during talk. When we have names of states and residents thereof of can identify themselves in one word like Bengali, Bihari, Punjabi, why those of U.P. cannot. This is just a matter of curiousity and nothing else.

No doubt, you are an Indian. But parts and components of a machine have also an identity apart from that of machine. India as a whole is an identity but we also need identity of individual, family, region, state for better administration, management and communication. For this reason, India is divided int states and states are divided into districts and so on. also elections are held separately for whole India, states and local bodies.

That is why we need name for regions and residents. The thread should be seen in this light.
