On 26th January,2010, when Sarath Fonseka went to cast his vote, he was not allowed to vote as his name was not in the list.

It is believed 70 % voters turned out to caste heir vote, majority form Sinhalese area

It is believed that the votes of Tamil people will be the key in this election.In Jaffna out of 69,000 people only 13,000 voted, and this less percentage is mainly due to the blast prior to the election voting day.
