It is because of their composition and components their vary in prices.
Same composition but different components, and for the same purpose, the components used may be costly so the price of the medicine is not same
Drug control authorities are responsible for checking quality of drugs. Pricing of medicines of different companies may vary. This is for other products also. The doctors should prescribe cheaper medicines of equal therapeutic value. However there is malpractice. Doctors prescribe medicines of such companies that pay them more gifts and give favor. Medical representatives of drug companies visit doctors with free samples and gifts with a view to promote certain drugs/ medicines.
Thanks Gulshanji for sharing.I am agree with you. But Govt. and drug control authority should take some action so that a doctor can not prescribed a particular name only he should prescribed a generic name.
This should be checked by the government drug control responsibility.
Thank you for sharing information about medicines in market,Gulshanji.

Prescribing generic name may pose some problem. The patients cannot select proper medicine in a generic name as they have inadequate knowledge. The chemists may sell medicines according to their discretion. Some of the chemist staff are also not so efficient. They may even give wrong medicine. Suggesting specific medicine may cost more but patient will get what he wants. As an alternative, doctor may prescribe alternatives in his slip and could advise that patient may buy either this or that.
main reason may be that these medicines are manufactured by different companies and also there are several artificial medicines also available in market therefore we must check the isi mark before purchasing any medicine.
In india we cannt expect any government department to work efficiently as most of the government run organizations are in-efficient. So, doctors as well as chemists are both taking this as advantage and playing games with patient's health.
Gulshan ji having a great knowledge in everything i also got some idea about the drug control now.

ISI marking is not on medicines. These are subject to drug control. The checking of fake medicines is also responsibility of drug control. They do their job but as elsewhere there is corruption in this area also.

Patients are naturally not in a position to check medicines. They depend on doctors. I know that some doctors check medicines after purchase by patients. All doctors should check the medicines after a patient buys these and thereafter guide for correct dose, time and other relevant precautions.
Thank you Gulshanji for sharing you vast knowledge, and for your valuable suggestion.
One big problem we indians are facing now is, we are been made rats for testing of new medicines in market. Adulteration in medicine has also become very common. It is only in India human life does not have any value.
