Women should not leave their home alone and accompany male members for their safety. This is Delhi Police chief advice to Delhi women.

I remember that in my childhood women would always be accompanied by some male member. Often even the neighbor young women would take me with them while leaving home. Even a small boy was considered a shield for a grown up girl.

Now things have changed. More women go to offices and call centers that work round the clock. It is not feasible to accompany male members of family. Moreover, women at Delhi are not safe even in company of other male family members.

women organizations have resented Police chief remarks. It is job of police to make conditions safe for women. It makes no sense to advising them to seay at home or move out in company of male family members.

Thank God that he has not advised all women to stay indoors to protect themselves!
It is always good to see a women holding a high position. She can control the crime especially at Delhi.
Ha ha ha chinmoy jee nice joke you told correct or he had not said to go every where with males
It projects the Delhi Police Chief in very poor light! Let him think of better policing the national capital!
Its really a strange news.yet the police do something extra to provide the safety to women.

What he has uttered fails to amuse me!
Its not possible to accompany all time, This is job of police to save people.....
Crime and criminals are always there.Power and money makes the people and their family members mad and corrupt.Mostly sons of rich, influential people and politicians are involved in these filthy acts.

It should not be the case that ladies are not taking precautions for such untoward incidents and are totally dependent on the police and administration.

Most of such incidents have taken place at late nights. Are the ladies supposed to be out of home at that time??
It is more painful and ridiculous as the very head of the police administration is almost abdicating his duties and responsibilities!
Delhi Police Chief made some remarks that seem unpalatable. But what he said is not entirely wrong. It is not possible to give one police guard to every woman moving out at night. Women also need some precautions like moving in group, communicating with police when necessary. Police should also arrange for night patrol and be readily available.
It's not the question of wisdom of having a companion but the propriety of this action as it came from the police Chief! It's an individual's choice or right enshrined in the Constitution and the duty of the state to protect it! What happens if any woman fails to get any such companion?
In my childhood also many of the lady members of our family was to be accompanied by me for some distant journeys.

@Rajesh

That's an excellent suggestion! It seems reel-life almost following real life!!
It is good for the women to have a safeguard always with her.No need to have a police advice then!
As the head of the organization let him think of devising better ways to ensure safety and security of women by bringing about greater improvement in efficiency and effectiveness of his forces!
When women travel lonely in late hours definitely wicked people will think in that way only. That is why the harrassments are increasing.
