Government have hiked Diesel price by Rs.3/-, Kerosene by Re 1/- and cooking gas by Rs. 50/ per cylinder. The minister says consumers can absorb this. But he has ignored that this also leads to hike in state taxes which are value based or ad valorum. Needless to say, this will further fuel inflation.

This hike in price will effect the consumers to a large extent and every time government thinks that an increase in hike is modest and consumers going to easily absorb it. Really it effects life of a common man to a large extent but what can be done rather accepting it and move on because after a few days everything seems to be settled and men will learn to live up with these hikes....
The Minister calls it modest!! The joke of the year! Then these ministers live in their own make-believe world - the latest one is going to hurt the common man very hard and its impact on the raging inflation would be just terrible!
Govt. is under fire from allies including Trinmool congress, the left and NDA all. DMK has asked for roll back.

I donot understand why the Government that has been elected to take care of us is inturn ruling us like dictators rather than democrators!! :(

No respite to Indians...no wonder we are always inclined towards corruption
West Bengal Government has given some relief to people by slashing cess on cooking gas. This is welcome, as fuel is an important expense in kitchen of every household.

Yes this will bring some respite to the common people of Bengal and will surely help to manage their budget in an effective way...Again the state Chief minister showed her concern about the common men of Bengal....
I think the present government doesnt have any answer for the hike in gas, petrol and other common household necessities. The life of common man has become very difficult as salaries are not increased.
It will be very difficult to common people to afford this price hike.
This price hike going to affect poor and middle class family....Our state government should reduce sales tax to avoid this type of hike....
Almost all the political parties except Congress have come out strongly against it sensing the public mood but the hypocrtical part of it is that all these parties supported this kind hike at one time or other!

The opposition parties obviously aim at fanning public sentiments for political muleage. congress would also do when in opposition. The oppostion should come with concrete suggestions instead.
You are absolutely correct,Gulshan! Now time has come to build a national consensus on this issue. As Congress has been mulling the idea of making it a free commodity, the entire Opposition owes it to itself to come out with its own prescription in public!
Whether consumers can absored diesel and Gas hike or not is not the question. It is been strictly imposed by the government and everyone has to follow it.
The decission to change the price by the regulatory authority is to be withdrawn first.
The fact it is one of these commodities that India is not self-reliant and sources it from various oil-producing countries and the government has been following the policy of shifting the burden to the commmon when the rationalization of consumption is the need of the hour!
The central govt had asked congress ministries in state to avoid their profit from this hike.Whom they are cheating?
I donot think consumers can absorb diesl and gas price hike. Especially the domestic gas about Rs.50/-.
hiking prices are such sucking the people. there is no one who can control these situations.
it can be absorbed only to the extent of fuel prices putting some burden on the pocket but since increase in fuel prices is linked to increase in price of most of the consumables and in turn directly impacts the food inflation, it can't be digested.
Surely it's not possible for a large section of society to absorb it.But I am surprised all the political leaders who looked red-faced on this issue with all their holy anger are quiet!!
