Substitute smoking by some other thing like toffee, chocolate. Develop some good hobbies. One has urge to smoke when idle. If you pass your time in reading, music, books, urge to smoke will fade.
If we want to quit smoking abruptly it is not possible for many of us so in that case a gradual reduction seems to an easier way to do with it. Further try to visit sites that are dedicated to anti-smoking like www.cancer.org which has been known for helping people quit smoking....
I think some diversion should be adopted whenever the desire for smoking arise..however diversion can be through personal interests or hobbies..i think recently an drug has be introduced in market which can control the desire..i havent know whether its good or not as reviews yet on it..trying it can also help.
