The right to vote is an important right of a citizen. Every responsible citizen is supposed toexercisethis right. Prime minister Manmohan sing is a voter in Assam. But he has not voted. This has pained Gujarat chief minister. He has not understood that P.M. is busy with BRICS summit in China.

Can't a person vote from other state or he has to vote from that particular state itself
One can vote only from the constituency where registered as a voter. Manmohan Singh, P.M. is registered in Assam. He can vote only in the constituency in which his vote name appears.
Facility of postal ballot is given to army personnel and those on election duty. Others must personally vote in the polling booth where name as voter is listed.
I also surprised to read the news.As a responsible citizen he had to vote to prove the value of votes.
As a responsible citizen, Prime Minister should vote in assembly. As a responsible Prime Minister he had to go to China to attend BRICS summit. His responsibility as prime minister far outweighed. Vote is valuable but not more than attending international summit of BRICS nations.
Thanks Gulshan. It is his duty to obey both.As it was in China he may go after casting the vote at &AM itself.
It is duty to vote but this is not to be blown out of all proportion. There is never 100% polling. There was no need for P.M. to go from Delhi to Assam only to cast his vote. If somebody cannot vote because he is away on some important government, business or family work, he may not vote. Even otherwise, voting is not compulsory.
