For BJP, Hindutva is nothing more than an opportunist strategy to woo voters. This is view expressed by prominent BJP leader Arun Jaitley according to wikileaks.

Now almost all people of India had realised this. That is why they couldn't win in last parliament elections.

R.S.S. has supported Arun Jaitley who explained that he never used the word 'Opportunist'. Accordingto R.S.S., Hindutva is anchor sheet of Sangh Pariwar.

The controversy is political rather than social. So I think let it go in its way.
A Hindu may embrace a non-Hindu religion without ceasing to be a Hindu and since the Hindu is disposed to think synthetically and to regard other forms of worship, strange gods and divergent doctrines as inadequate rather than wrong or objectionable, he tends to believe that the highest divine powers complement each other for the well-being of the world and mankind."

The central concepts of Hindutva include:
1.) Integral Humanism.
2.) Cultural Nationalism.
3.) Social Justice.
4.) Decolonisation.
The so called political leaders always try to take advantage of things like religion, caste, community etc.,. A full stop to these biased thinking will only help us get good leaders for our country.
Sumit,
I think those who argues for Hindutwa had forgot the first concept itself.
