I have just chanced upon this quote which does encapsulate an irony!!

"It's ironical how we ignore those who want us,want those who ignore us,love those who hurt us and hurt those who love us!"

This psychology. Those who want us are in easy reach and so ignorable. Those who ignore us are difficult to get and hence more desirable. Loving those who hurt and hurting those who love is sadomasochistic trait, may be mild and in subconscious mind.
