Mumbaikars can look forward to a pre-Holi date with the moon on Saturday. This celestial spectacle is happening after a gap of 18 years.

On Saturday night, as Mumbai swings into the Holi mood, the moon, which has triggered lunar race among various nations including India, to reach its surface, will move closer to the earth, the distance being 3,56,577 km as compared to 364,000 km. Consequently, the moon will appear 14% larger and the event is called the 'supermoon'. It will be an occasion for the city's amateur astronomers and space buffs to peer through their telescopes and study the moon.
