Poem is a literary creation and Poetry is art.
A poem is a single piece of poetry, complete in itself. Poetry is the collective term used to describe a group of poems, which may or may not be related by theme, author, or style.

I agree with the post. Poem is a single work whereas poetry is collective and refers to art of writing poems. for full discussion see the link:

Ya I heard chinmoyee and ravishankar write poems.
Chinmoy and ravishankar both write nice poems. We have genius in all types of writing on the site.
