As per my knowledge Traffic means your blog or website visitors comes from search engine, referral links or direct. Where page rank means google count your blog or website popularity based on voting.

Page rank is described in terms of P1 onward, that is how you appear on search engines, where as traffic is visitor count on your pages.

Good content along with tags, key words and catchy phrases are some of the things those attracts traffic and page ranks improves as much as traffic improves. I am working totally on this basis.
