SAP AG, the world's largest maker of business-management software, said revenue from selling software licenses rose 34 percent to a record in the fourth quarter, growing almost twice as fast as rival Oracle Corp's forecast.
Software revenue climbed to about 1.5 billion euros ($2 billion), SAP said, beating the average 1.39 billion euro estimate of analysts polled by Vara Estimates. Oracle said in December that new license sales will rise between 10 percent and 20 percent in the fiscal third quarter ending in February.
