Do media divert or direct youth?

Some participators have clubbed children with youth. Kid and children material differs from youth. Most of the media is for the entire public and not youth specific. But we classify these on basis of interest. The family drama serials are considered as women, sports and career as youth, cartoon films as children and so on.

The youth are concerned mainly with (1) gaining knowledge on current events and general knowledge. This is related to career advancement. (2) sports (3) Entertainment. The vulgar material is called adult material though even teenagers and aged may be watching more.

In fact, entire media is open to everyone. It is for youth to select what is good for them. The youth are not so vulnerable as children. They have built their physique, character and talent since childhood. The environment at school and home made them what they are. They can definitely choose the right and reject the wrong. The media neither directs nor misdirects. The youth are themselves to see the right direction and use media as their tool. Media is a tool that can be used in any way.

Realistically, if the media had no influence on human behaviour, then why media is popular. The psychology of human or youth influence by media starts in it's effectiveness with print, ... so its crucial of media to direct faith of millions youth worldwide

Social Media Marketing is the new wave of Internet Marketing techniques and offers many advantages over other more traditional forms of media usage

more youth are interested in applying in media as its only hope people/youth are willing to work on eg.jessica case ,etc so its directing youth to come up its thought even without any bookish knwlege hence ,no partiality or compromise is done as against talent

Media is nowadays not helping young generations to develop their skills it only making them weaker and lazy.

Nowadays many children never play outdoor games they prefer to watch cartoon network, POGO, toon Disney, jetix and so on. They keep watching 24 hours and as a result they become lazy

I think the most powerful components of media in today's world are TV,newspapers and internet. Of these we have already spoken much about TV and news papers. Now comes the turn of internet.This is such a medium which the adolescent class is hugely getting addicted with. Internet is providing the youth an umpteen number of facilities which have hitherto been unknown.Youth can find job opportunities, can apply online for them, they can avail distance education,work from home to earn a living,can achieve online degrees and so on. But like with every good thing a number of demerits have crept in. If the internet is providing the youth a wonderful experience of information and opportunities, it is also a source of pornographic materials, cyber crimes and other deviating means.Hence the youth , while grabbing the good aspects of the world wide web must remain alert to avoid any sort of enticements which may lead them astray.
There is no gainsaying the fact that the services of media must be availed by the youth to rise higher but it is for them to be cautious so as not to be swept away by the distracting elements of it.

Recognizing that media is the gateway to the world and used correctly can create a ripple of positive side effects by promoting not only the news but also charity to poor & under priveledged

A teenager interested in formula one can tune into a sports channel,the ones interested in nature,adventure or cultures can tune into discovery tv,nat-geo.Anyone interested in current affairs can watch various debates and also participate in them though writing,mailing or tweeting nowadays.Such platform for information and voicing out wasn't available a few decades ago.

In fact parents sometimes don't have the sources or time to give so much information that might interest a teenager,which he or she might get it through media.

Media just provides information.To translate that information to knowledge for the better or to just have fun and giggle at whats been shown and get nothing out of it lies in the youth's decision.

Parents keep a tab on what their children wear , eat and where they go,what company their kids hang around with,their responsibility is to see what media they are being exposed too as well.Blaming media to distract is fine,crediting it to direct? That is another side of the story to consider.

Every coin has two sides.So does media.If we can see the negatives very clearly,the directive side of it is obvious as well.

The bias of the media and "the damaging effects it has had on the faultless past record of Sikh loyalty to India in India's early days , are few example where high media reporting & distortion of media reporting makes huge violence which whole country had to suffer

Yes, media is diverting people. They are more concerned with TRP then sharing information.Barring few media people who are really directing youth in constructive way rest of them are diverting youth in wrong directions. I, think media should work for the betterment of society.

These may be said to be directing the youth. The religious and vulgar material in media can be said to be distracting youth. It is for youth to choose what takes them forward and what holds them back. The youth have definitely this much of discretion.

Sometimes variables bias by media distract people's thinking and influence their responses to a persuasive message without any awareness of the effect.

I believe that media mostly divert the situation in some situation. Many times it has happened that media don't know the truth behind some of the situation. If they are having some information on topic, they just enlarge it, to show that they knew all of the information.This should not be done.
Media just tend to know only the upper layer of the siutation, but they don't go beneath to see the real truth of situation. In many cases this has happened. Media only know 10 or 20% of the situation, and they just tends to puts 100% in front of us. It often arises a question that to believe on such media or not. If the information is coming on one channel, then it comes in one or two hours on most of channels. It means that without going through the information, copying is done.

Television can be a powerful entertainment and education tool for children given the right programming. However, Media influence on children is always bad. The harmful effect of media influence and how can parent counteract this negative media influence is really problem nowdays so fate is totally on media
