Every star who appears for a public show will definitely charge. And the organizers have to pay them for many sundry expenses also. And there is no exception in this regard.

Not just here, they also get to travel abroad since there is a craze for Indian stars in gulf countries, the Arabs anyway have plenty of money and are generous in paying them...
That is why they are stars, as they have face value and people values their presence.
There presence makes the crowd gather. They are the legends, winners of many awards.
Organizers of such functions will choose such 'crowd pullers' to boost the presence of people in their functions. In fact this is the fundamental criteria in "Event Management."
