HA,
Sandhya,

here in Telugu, while speaking in slang, we say 'yenti amma' when we are irritated with that person or when we are in a hurry or when we dont want to listen but forced to listen and when we dont know what to address the lady (as elder or younger'

and about the contradictory words, it is 'Cheppu ra' or 'chep ra' meaning 'tell me' . it does not rhyme with chup raho becasue chepu ra sounds more like 'Chayppu ra'

Swetha Shenoy
the 'entiamma' of telugu is different from 'entha amma' in malayalam

It is like the malayalam joke. one guy learns malayalam and asks a shop keeper "Entha patti" instead of "Endu pathi"

hahahahah

Non-Malayalis can do this mistake....(if they have just started learning and if they are writting Malayalam in English words.). Isn't it?

Some days before, I tried my level best to convince Gulshanji that 'pathi' and 'patti' are not pronounced the same way.
At last, I exhausted!!!

Let me write song thing more....."Endu pathi"...I think you are saying "What happened?".
But if we write 'pathi' this way...it means husband. 'Extra H'
I think it should be written as 'patti'
so same word pronounced in 2 different ways..isn't it?

I remember, I have quoted it in that interesting thread :) :) :)

Actually, it's a bit difficult to write an answer.
Yet try, if you can find that word :P :P :P

If someone calls Sandhya/Sheeja, I may respond as 'enth, entha, entho or simply ummmmm'. What about you?

I just respond ' Hello'. It is not at all difficult.

Well ! I interact for long time when someone meets me.
So, i would talk in normal way.
I will hello or Namaste, or touch their feets if they are older than me.
