CWG venues finally ready to begin games


New Delhi, Oct 2: The venues of much hyped commonwealth Games 2010 has been fully prepared and the Queen's Baton also finally reached the games' village after completing its Capital lap on Saturday, Oct 2.

From the Games' village, the Queen's batton would resume its journey to the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium for the opening ceremony on Sunday, Oct 3.


Stating about the situation at games' village, Indian boxing team member, Akhil Kumar informed, "When we came initially the conditions were like that (filthy), but a lot of improvement has taken place."

More than 5400 athletes and officials have moved into the Village till Oct 2 and another 2000 are expected over the next two days.

International Olympic Committee's president, Jacques Rogge also arrived in the country on Oct 2 to participate in the CWG opening ceremony as a special invitee.
