The oil spill was a great hazard that world faced in last months.Now India also facing one such threat in Mumbai.In wake of the collision between two ships and the subsequent oil spill off the coast Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has started conducting random checks of seafood items in civic markets to ensure they are hygienic and contamination-free.

This is what a municipal corporation should do. Keeping track of health hazard and checking food items including seafood for any unhygienic content is corporation's job. The action of the corporation is welcome and others should learn from this.

Local and all government bodies should be aware of the health hazards of its people and this action is really welcomed.

This is welcome news especially since the containers that drowned are beleived to contain chemicals. Also the BMC has put a stopper on fishing for some days until the time the water can be cleared off the debris and be declared safe to for the various life forms! Until then no fish!!

Still Mumbaiwalas should be more vigilant in using sea food for some months.

Ofcourse checks has to be done more than checks i think they should warn the fisher men too to be careful with their catches.
