According to some US researchers,brain scan done on the criminals helps detection of lying.The fontal lobe of the brain is seen to be hyperactive when they resort to lies!! But there Doubting Thomasses too who have questioned its effectiveness in real-life situation.

The Indian police are also using some methods for lie detection like brain mapping. But the evidence obtained by such methods is not accepted by courts according to recent s.C. judgment as noone can be compelled to give evidence against oneself.
