In the hit and run case that took place in 2002' movie star Salman Khan hit a person who was sleeping on the footpath causing death to the person sleeping on the footpath. Salman was driving the car in an inebriated state. And he doesn't have license.

Salman, with wrong witnesses, misguided the court.

Atlast to day, the court proved that in all respects Salman is guilty.

Law  took its own course.

This was strange..it's truth money can buy even the law. Killing someone is extreme and someone can rid of it. How strange??? I think law is not blind.

Yes it is not blind.. They can see clear all the things. But still they behave like it.

It is totally disgusting and nauseating how so called justice is meted out. The first witness of the accident, a police named Ravidnra Patil got his life ruined because of Salman Khan, his wife and kids left him, he lost his job, career everything. He had to run for his life like a common criminal and then finally died one day, his body racked with TB. And the person who caused all this walks away free, strutting around like a prize rooster. And when I see people flocking outside theaters wanting to watch his films, I feel like a bomb should be dropped on that particular mob!!!

There is every reason for your outburst. Actually Ravindra Patil was the Bodyguard of Saman khan, who was also in the car. But, he has not acted like personal guard of Salman. He acted as a responsible policeman and reported the matter to the concerned authorities . As a result, he lost his job and afflicted with TB and ultimately died.

This is the result of being law abiding .

The criminal is roaming scotfree .

Wah, applaud my countrymen .

And the way the people are celebrating and congratulating him, that's the limit of everything. Does any of you think this country will ever know the value of the Law of the Land? Everyone including top Khans of the county are out to give him credit for defeating the law of the nation. Shame, real shame on us all. Now, who would want to respect the law when they can mold it there way so easily.

Where is the law? It's a flaw if someone thinks that there is law in this country. It's under the Claws of the rich vultures.

This case is still under court and I think whoever committed crime must be brought to justice, but justice delayed is justice denied.

Is Salman now out of jail... Looks like the case is further extending and he has been granted bail i suppose.. Is it true..?

The case extends and ultimately nothing definite emerges out. This is the tradion prevailing in our judicial system.

This is bar luck for us that anyone with money can buy a law here. It's strange that in our country celebrities can get rid of the law for a murder which in Indian law is the biggest crime.

Sent to me by a friend ....

How the Judiciary, Law and order and Legal system helped Salman Khan and failed the victims and the Nation

These are a few relevant points that helped Salman literally get away with murder and left the law abiding citizens hang their heads in shame , disbelief and disgust !!!!

1, Soon after the incident where Salman crushed the life out of one individual and injured four in a drunken stupor , driving without a valid licence why dint the legal system speed up the process like they did while granting him bail twice within a matter of 2 days ?

2, Kamal Khan, Salman Khan’s cousin and friend gave a statement to the police saying that he was sitting in the rear and Salman was driving the car with Ravindra Patil sitting next to Salman in the front seat . Was this fact and statement not important and crucial enough for the prosecution to pursue and make sure that Kamal Khan be produced in the court? By now we all know the fate of poor Ravindra Patil !

Their fear that Kamal Khan may turn out to be a hostile witness because of his proximity to Salman Khan , though valid, shows them in poor light. If in case Kamal Khan did indeed back-track his statement, was the prosecution not capable enough to bring out the truth?

This also shows the failure of our police force since courts rarely give credence to statements recorded by the police knowing fully well that they force their witness using violent methods to get what they want. In this case this very reputation of the police has backfired on the entire system of justice .

3, Salman Khan became a committed and supposedly changed man after 2002 after a series of criminal misdoings suddenly realising that there were people out there who need his help , the entire modus operandi scripted by his father Salim.. Since he has plenty of black money , it was decided he could dole out some of it and build up a reputation that would help him fight the various criminal charges against him. Looks like everybody can see through this great evolution except the legal department. On one of the news hour debates a supreme court lawyer said that his humanitarian activities will definitely be considered while deciding on the quantum of punishment . Now we know how easy it is for the rich and the powerful to deceive the legal system without much effort because they have the money power and clout ?

4, The most disgusting sight was the joy displayed by the adoring fans of the actor. They are no doubt jobless and have no responsibility to speak of, otherwise they would not there in the first place - running behind him wherever he went , in front of his house, in front of the court rooms and in attendance 24 hours of the day keeping tabs on what Salman Bhai did !!!! They burst crackers to show their happiness and solidarity when he got bail for all the wrong reasons because it makes these poor homeless ( why else are they on the streets all the time ?) people relive their own dreams through Salman bhai forgetting that it is one of their own kind that got run over . As long as they don’t practice Salman bhai’s life style, keep their imaginary world of dabanng going within their mind and get a kick out of what they are imagining, no harm done.

But the film fraternity is quite another thing altogether ! They are known to be vultures of opportunism no less ! If Salman Khan goes to Jail , what happens to their 100 crore projects and if in the future one of them were to commit the same blunder ( we know all about their drinking, partying rash driving life styles) don’t they need the support of one another? So they all speak in the same language including those among them who have taken pledge to serve the nation. The majority of the film industry consists of self centered, selfish lot that looks after its own interest and some of them think that footpaths are Salman’s playground not meant for those lowly creatures .How dare they use it as their bedrooms !!!

Then there is the other section of the society , who consider themselves a cut above the rest , so they need to think and speak different ! They support Salman because they feel that being a half Musalman he should be pampered because that’s what secularism is all about, regardless of whether he is the wrong or not! Politicians lead the chorus of course because they want to show they are (pseudo) secular !

There is no doubt that this is an extremely dangerous precedent that can have far reaching effect on our entire judiciary and legal system. Individual citizens must wake up and voice their opinion in strong terms to bring in any positive changes

A good link. Huffington post, India too published how the judiciary made a fool of itself by saving Salman. Now the entire nation is aware of the foolish verdict of Bombay Highcourt.

And that's another misfortune that at the end we correlate things with religion/caste.

@Usha, that was quite an insightful article and each and every word written there is true, some of the things I myself felt the exact way. It is totally disgusting and sickening the way this affair has been going on. Justice has failed the common man, once again. But then, all we can do is put our trust in the maker, whom Salman is sure to meet one day. His celebrity status does not grant him immunity from that, thank god. And on his day of reckoning, he will get his dues. Sick sick sick!!

@Sanjeev, it is unfortunate that everything finally links back to religion, but it is a glaring truth that that certain community is pampered all the time! All in the name of secularism!

Money and power can influence anything and everything perhaps am not sure is this the glaring example of it, but should we not ignoring the fact that when the driver is present inside vehicle, Salman should be driving that vehicle when it met with accident.

I agree with you Mohan. Additionally when Salman was driving with breakneck speed, his personal bodyguard warned Saman. But Salman didn't   heed his words.

We blame the judicial system. The same system was given to us by the British and trials were speedily held then. Yet trials take years now and I think it is the elite which has a vested interest in this as it leads to a display of money power and the lawyers and ofcourse the judges who dont want a speedy trial.

I remember reading a write up by Justice Katju a former judge of the Suporeme Court who admitted in his blog that 30% of all judges ar not above board for corruption. So here again the cause is corruption aided by democracy.

Democracy never aids corruption , but the loopholes in the system help the rich and the powerful manipulate the system to their advantage...We all know that judges and judgments can be bought but one should remember that sinful pasts have long shadows !
