This is very unfortunate and distressing at the same time. People who have lived for decades in Hyderabad have suddenly become outsiders in their own city??? Telangana or Seemandhra, they are still the citizens of this country so they should not be mistreated anywhere!
The leaders should know or made to know that there is only single citizenship in country (perhaps J & K is different). Division in staes is just an administrative matter and nothing more. Terrorizing anyone living in a city just because he may be originating from other region is nothing but antinational and terrorism.
People who settled since generations are living under constant fear. The TRS, which took the charge yesterday itself is indulging in such nefarious activities. Anyhow Modi assured the Outsiders from Andhra to be care free.
Actually law and order is a state subject. So if state government ledership is the villain, things are really bad. Center has very indirect and remote role in such matters.
Yes, but if the state government fails, then surely the Centre has the right to intervene?
Center has the right to intervene but this is a sort of moral pressure and remote control only. The state government has full authority in matter of law and order. In extreme circumatances only, center may impose President's rule. Generally, President rule is not imposed as long as the ruling party in state has majority in state assembly.
A drastic action has to be taken by the center though not President's rule. The law and order system will take a big beating. There will be lot of incidents of arson and looting.
I also wish center could take drastic action. But any action can be taken only within constitutional framework. Center can send only advisory. If there is any other way, this needs be explained. .
I too hope for the best. Now the present attitude in Telangana towards Andhra people is "Bhago Aandhra wale"

Would the picture have been different if Hyderabad was in the Seemaandhra region. I am sure these feelings are momentary. Chandigarh is the joint capital of Haryana and Punjab and there is no report of any problems. The reason outsiders are usually resented is because of perceived lack of economic opportunities and the locals feel they would have got these. However it is because the state is economically developing and in the process outsiders are needed to man the growing available jobs. After all no one goes to economically weaker states. A few narrow minded politicians build their political careers on this local dissatifaction.

The birth of Telangana owes its origin to narrow minded unemployed politicians. The people of residual Andhra wanted Hyderabad to be made UT. Or a joint capital permanently.

Politicians succeed only when they get support from people.

The idea of forming new state is itself not a good decision as both Telangana and Seemaandhra region have to start everything from the beginning. If Hyderabad was made common capital for sometime then also either one of the region could have effected after sometime (maybe Seemaandhra in the case). It is obvious for Hyderabadis to fear or be unhappy as already unemployment problem is there in AP and now added to that the separation of state exposes them to the problem of job insecurity.

I fail to understand, what made the erstwhile rulers bifurcate the state. A foolish decision that failed to serve the purpose of the party or the two newly formed states. Now, the problems created by bifurcation are surfacing up one by one.the rivalry between the two states is increasing by day.

AP is perhaps the sixth state to be bifurcated. The earlier five are all doing well. Both Telengana and Seemandhra will also prosper. Why this much bitterness and worry?
