Youth to remain in jail till death for brutal murder of teen wife

24-year-old man has been sentenced to imprisonment till death for killing his teenaged wife, in a rare verdict by a Delhi court which denied the youth any remission citing his ‘insensitivity’.

"The insensitivity of the convict (husband) is writ large from the fact that he did not even consider the future of one-and-a-half-year-old daughter apart from the fact that wife was hardly aged 18 years when she lost her life at the hands of convict in a cowardly act," Additional Sessions Judge S. S. Rathi said while sentencing Shashi for killing his wife Kavita in the presence of her mother in November, 2008.
