There is no perfection in life , but we can hope to strive towards that . I sometimes wonder if we have a government , which runs on Democratic principles , which is ideal as far as the needs of our society is concerned since one is inter dependant on the other ..

That is his ploy to supposedly put me on the defensive when he has lost out an argument ..
Where is the question of losing an arguement when you have not joined in arguingvwith me. I repeat I raised the issue that BJP is constantly stressing the dalit background of Kovind which is not proper if we want to move towards a classless society. I have nothing against Kovind. You replied by diverting issue to Indira Gandhi and Pratibha Patil and so on. It was then that I stated your bias against Congress keeps coming out even when it is not necessary. I will once again repeat that Congress is not my favourite party. I have no issue with BJP being your favourite party. But for sake of balanced debate reply to the issue and not divert and then pass judgements .
Caste, class and minority issues have been in existence since Independence, no need to say who brought it in .It has become the habit of opposition and the media to harp on these issues time and again , more so when a candidate is selected even if the party ,here BJP does not make caste an issue in their selection process..
The thread started with ideal form of govt. and society. Then the issue of selection of Presidential candidate crept in. Some have commented on .highlighting 'dalit' caste of the NDA Presidential candidate As Vijay remarked there is nothing to say about personal merits/ demerits of the candidate. But it is unfortunate that his caste is being highlighted instead of merits..I remember that Mr. K.R. Narayanan was also a Dalit but nobody referred to his caste as such. It is the role of media that is most condemnable.. Just after selection of the NDA Presidential candidate, the media highlighted- 'Dalit Card by NDA'.. Again when Congress/ other opposition nominated candidate, against caste factor was highlighted. Nobody ever talked about caste of Dr. Rajndra Prasad or Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy. . .
We simply cannot compare nor expect things to be like they were before. By the eighties , our politicians had made sure that the caste and minority factors became entrenched deeply into our society thereby stratifying the entire nation. Media is afterall highlighting this state of affairs, so can't really blame them if they go overboard at times.
Since the only way is to move forward, we can only hope for positive change if some young leaders are able to instil new ideas and have the courage to face the consequences.
