Do read this article, Is insulting the revered icons of a particular religion, specifically Hindu religion, is freedom of expression??? It really burns my heart when I hear people saying that the people who indulge in such insults of vulgar nature are great artists!! And sadly, many who follow in the footsteps of this 'great artist' are Hindus!

That the artist can dare to express as he has shows the existence of freedom of expression. whether one likes it or not is also freedom of choice of expressing a reaction. Why are you so worked up is not clear. Relation with god is personal and one can express disgust based on certain feelings, experiences. Do you have the sole ownership rights on the gods. Why do you expect others to behave as you think. Someone has expressed his feelings which are disgusting and has exposed himself. Period.

Because:
1. India is a hindu majority country, though religion is just a faith most the people follow it religiously. If someone talks about our family we dont sit and express disgust we retaliate in a manner possible. Its the same in this case where the family in question is our faith and sentiments. I am not a religious person and i still feel the need to hit that person left and right across his face. So i can just imagine how other pious people would feel
2.In the name of freedome, no one should be allowed to play with the sentiments of the masses
3. If we do not react today, God knows how things will go in future.

Freedom of expression is a right in a Democratic Country. But, it should be known, along with the rights there are duties and responsibilities too. Mostly, people talk about their Rights only, coolly ignoring duties.
Additionally, I am of the opinion " Respect and be Respected "
It is the only that works.

These are simple things that simple folks like you and me understand but the so-called intellectuals don't, that is the biggest problem in our country today!
It is a systematic attempt to divide the Indian society on caste basis and communal basis that is carried out by the Left parties and their supporters. It has gained momentum now with Modi in power because of obvious reasons and this argument about freedom of expression is just hogwash because there is no complete freedom for responsible citizens but for those who are anti national and have an agenda of dividing the nation anything goes !
So called simple people are not so simple as they claim or think. Self appointed care takers create unnecessary reactions which create more divisions. So called simple people think their view is the ONLY view, rest should keep mum. In this case an artist has done a painting according to his perceptions. If you do not like it ignore it. After all your views also are distasteful to many.

There are some people who are selfish enough to ignore anything and everything that happens around them. But it is wrong to expect everyone to be like that. When something is wrong people are expected to respond and not ignore. It is just that the way they respond differs from person to person. Ignorance is bliss not for everything.
It is only when simple people respond to obviously glaring and disgusting events such as these, the 'intellectuals' expect them to keep mum about it and ignore those things in the name of freedom of expression, rights etc. and similar hogwash. Our views may seem distasteful to guys like you because obviously you are the ones who will go to any extent to lick the boots and $%%es of such people just to please them and to appear like progressive modernists. In reality, you guys are the ones who are bringing our country down in a shameful manner and expect people like us to grant free access to your way of thinking. I am sorry, but as long as distasteful people like us are around, we will not let that happen! We will kick asses of such idiots every time they reveal their idiocy!
Your choice of words clearly indicates you are anything but simple. Your self created agenda has led you to believe in perceptions which are simply disgusting. But it is your choice and I do not have any conflict with that. Why you are against intellectuals is not clear. Everyone who thinks is an intellectual. Even you think and write so you are also an intellectual. It is a different matter that your thinking is of a datum level. When you trash someone you are actually trashing yourself.
Exactly the same goes for you and the others like you too! You call my words, views distasteful but so are your views and choice of words too. You call our views and our conviction to our faith and religion as propaganda while conveniently forgetting that speaking against and mocking it also is the propaganda of the worst kind. I am not claiming to be an intellectual neither am I a professor who proclaims to be a person of principles and rational thinking, it is you who do that. It is the likes of you who have brough down the standards of JNU, Jadhavpur universities etc and created such disgusting people in question. So before you advise others to stop trashing, why don't you stop trashing the country and poisoning the society!
Its very unfortunate that people are misusing the freedom of expression concept. No doubt everyone has the freedom to express themselves, but why express it in such a way that it hurts the sentiments of others? Why should any religion be insulted like that? If there is no harm in allowing such kind of freedom of expression, I wonder why do Government sometimes arrest people for making inflammatory speeches? After all, those people are also misusing their freedom
One can imagine what would be the state of society if more of these sick minds go ahead with their freedom of expression simply because they get the support f some manipulative minds. In fact it has become the in thing at universities to be a part of any anti establishment group because certain politicians and parties finance them . This kind of malaise is spreading to small towns too and the difference between terror groups , sedition and criminal minds get diluted . It is a very unhealthy and dangerous tendency that needs to be checked before it grows totally out of hand
In a multi religious society like ours freedom of expression should be prudent and one should draw boundaries so that no community gets hurt . It is also the responsibility of the leaders not to be partial to any one community and marginalise the others. It is this which angers people because the ordinary citizens normally respect each others beliefs and don't insult their faith
India is going through a lot due to mushrooming of illogical intellectualism. Sometimes I feel Intellectualism doing more damage to the fabric and image of country than the ignorance and illiteracy. But the best part of all these intellectuals is their selectiveness.
I agree that your relation with God is personal but then personal relations should not brought out in public to hurt the sentiments of millions. Personal things should be cherished in your home and not brought out on social media platform to seek public attention.
Your personal choice is your freedom but not to hurt the sentiments of majority is your responsibility that comes with this freedom.
In my opinion Freedom of expression should be used judiciously and utmost care has to exercised while using Freedom of expression
Additionally, it is to be known Freedom of expression is the right to articulate one's opinions and ideas without fear of Government retaliation.
All citizens of this Country are entitled for this right. So it goes without saying, Freedom of expression means one can use Freedom of expression without encroaching in to others and involve in to their right of Freedom of expression
