Heavy rain and cloud burst have made lives of the residents in the state miserable. No doubt the tourists and pilgrims also need help to return from the region. All attention is at them. Unfortunately, the local inhabitants are being ignored. They have lost everything unlike the pilgrims and tourists who have their home and belongings safe and intact at their native towns and places.

Is government doing anything to help the homeless local residents of Uttarakhand?.

Not only locals but the whole nation should stand beside them. Really they need help in this moment.

Many state governments already announced financial help for the rehabilitation of Uttarakhand people. UP declared Re.25 crores. Pilgrims from many states might have had their home and belongings safe, but Pilgrims themselves lost their lives. A family of 5 from my locality died according to a message from the helpline.

It is true that the locals are the worst sufferers. Even the pilgrims who have been rescued are repeatedly highlighting the plight of the villagers in the flood affected areas. They are still without shelter, food and electricity. Sitting miles away in the comfort of our homes it is hard to imagine what the victims of the cruel MAN MADE DISASTER are going through.

The locals need help. The entire nation should help them. But I find that all attention is diverted to pilgrims and tourists only whereas the residents of the region are left to their fate.

True. Now all attention on Pilgrims. Locals were forgotten. But the authorities say many roads and bridges were washed away due to which rescue operations are delayed. ITBP is laying new approach roads to reach the submerged regions.

This is utter lack of coordination between the state and the central government. The state government needs to ensure that at least the locals have proper temporary places to stay and get food till there are better options at hand. Seeing the vast devastation it looks like the rehabilitation work will take some time to begin. The first priority is to save lives of the pilgrims as well as the locals.

The local government is looking at center to come forward and take responsibility although relief works are on but not to the required level. What I am reading in online newspapers the problem is far deeper than they told initially. They should step up all measures immediately to find thousands missing or washed out and hundreds of thousands in need of basic amenities.

The center has extended all the help. Rescue operations by regular army and 50000 ITBP forces are in action. The problem is many roads and bridges leading to Kedarnath are washed away. It means the army has to restore the roads and bridges first.21 helicopters are pressed in to service. In addition to this, incessant rains are delaying the rescue operations.
In this connection, some officials and ministers of government of AP reached Dehradun made arrangements to send stranded victims to AP Bhavan, new Delhi.
Efforts are on. UP declared already declared 25 crores of financial help to U'Khand Govt. Many more on the way.

Finally unless the roads are relaid and rain doesn't stop, rescue operations cannot be made brisk.
It is really sad to see the plight of people there. The only strong and solid presence is that of our Jawans who have been helping out as mush as they can...There are some known people who have gone from here and are stranded and according to them, the officials have not visited the spot nor anyone else.Only the army personnel gave them some food packets and the local villagers too helped, and some media persons were there along with them...

Pay no mind to those who talk behind your back, it simply means that you are two steps ahead !!!

Now the help is pouring in. As a first installment center released Re. 145 crores to U'Khand. Many Govt.officials reached the nearest accessible spots like Dehradun and Rishikesh. From there rescue operations are supervised. rescue operations cannot be carried in full swing till the washed out roads and bridges are repaired.
