I am going to surprise all the South Indians, by saying that there is one Monastery in South as well :huh: . It starts with 'N'. Can you tell me. Because, i heard some one saying that Monastery lies only in North, but it is not true.

Are you talking about the one that is there near Coorg at Bayalu kuppe which is run by the tibetan community...I have seen that :)

I don't know the place named Coorg. The Monastery is in Karnataka.

Yes it is called Namdroling Nyingmapa Monastery, and there is also a university there where nuns and monks are trained and a small twnship surrounding it where all the tibetans live with their families...

I am not sure about that because it is meant for the students and monks, but Kushal nagar and Somawarpet which are both towns situated close to Byala kuppe have many hotels and there are frequent bus services going to Bangalore, and the monastery is by the side of the highway !

To experience the atmosphere there, i think there would be some arrangements. To live monks life, i think there would be some arrangement. I saw the official website of Namdroling Monastery. There they had written that we should take permission from them to visit there.

Yes , thats right you need to get the permission, but if you stay in a hotel in either of the places I have already mentioned, they take care of that and you can make enquiries when you get there to the monastery.the monks are very friendly and you can visit the temple which is very beautiful and whoever is there normally talk to you and explain about their culture...
