Why we are calling as 'Operation Theater' in hospitals for operation rooms?!?

Can anyone have any idea?

I would rather put it down to usage as chamber fits a doc or a lawayer rather than office!

I think in normal theater we people watch movie with some people.:):)

I think in an operation theater they get to see all kind of acts including, tragic, joyful, and lots of shedding of tears by the audience standing out of the theater. So not a bad choice. In the last if the end is well, all is well.

Theater does not mean a place where only dramas are performed, it means a place where some one does some thing for others. Operation theater is a place where some one performs his/her most serious act, hence theater.

A word can have many meanings. Thus operation theater is not same as a dramatic theater.
