Parts of Speech-LESSON 2
The basic lessons we require for written English is ‘parts of speech’. Traditionally, English has been recognised with eight parts of speech. They are,
1. Noun
2. Pronoun
3. Verb
4. Adverb
5. Preposition
6. Conjunction
7. Interjection
8. Adjective

Noun-Name/place/animal/thing/expression/emotions
Example-
Sheela is a beautiful woman
India is my country
Cat chases
rat
Pronoun- Used instead of a noun. This is used to beautify the language and the matter which you are writing so you do not sound monotonous throughout your essay/article.
Eample- Boddunan is a good website.
It enhances quality education in people.
Raj is a good boy.
He wakes up early each day.
Verb- They are action words, or words that show the ‘action’
Eample- Ram is
singing
Children are
playing in the pool
Adverb-These are the words which describes the verb
Example- The train is
moving slowly.
They
usually get up at eight o’ clock.
Preposition- Shows the relation of the noun to the rest of the sentence.
Example- He owns the house
on the corner
We are waiting
for her
Conjunction- These are the words that join two or more sentences
Example- Shekar is a wonderful artist
and a musician
She spoke the truth
but it was not convincing to the judge
Interjection- Shows sudden expression or unexpected exclamatory words.
Example-
Alas! We lost the match
Hello! How are you?
