in space the astronauts eat gourmet meals by comparison
Much of the food astronauts eat these days comes in packages, which they cut open and pour into bowls and on plates. They use real silverware and eat off real trays, which are attached to their laps

Most of the astronauts are american or russian. So, new Indian menu. Even kalpana Chawala of India origin would have been at ease with western food. Moreover, on space exploration, food is only for subsistence and health and not for personal taste.

But the Americans,Japanese and the Russians at least have the option of choosing food items.I agree with the fact that there is no big number when it comes to Indian astronauts.

astronauts food diet includes hundreds of dishes: soups, served in tubes, canned meat and fish, juices, coffee, tea etc. Some of the space food is sublimated, i.e., dehydrated in a special way. If water is added to such food, its original properties are restored. The use of cargo spacecraft has made it possible to add variety to the diet. Fresh fruit, vegetables and even mustard are most delicious after sublimated food and the usual canned foods.
