I agree with Nagalakshmi that self-contentment too could be a goal and achievement of which could be termed as success!
The object of Ralph Waldo Emerson was to lead a fuller and more meaningful life in all respects. So, he defined 'success' in a very wide sense. Ultimately, 'success' means attainment of goal- whatever this be.

I agree,Gulshan! That was his philosophical take on life and success in its true perspective!
Thanks for sharing the saying of Ralph Waldo Emerson,Gulshan. :) :)
I agree with gulshan....
success means attainment of goals whatever it may be.....
Self contentment is also very important.....
I don't agree to accept that attaining any goal is success!
I have something different opinion for success
I believe that "Success does not lie in the work you do,but success lies in the work done at right time.

Want to make each day Accountable

Once again the same point comes whether the right thing has been done at the right time!
It depends, how we are prepare to do the right work at right time.

Success is just achievement of your goal. As regards contentment, this is a consequence of success. If you get success, you are contended and in case of failure, discontented and may be even frustrated. We may define 'contentment' as 'feeling arising from success'.
