The new 'giant' baby has born. Microsoft launched it's latest mobile operating system Windows Phone 7 on Monday, Oct 11 night in New York.

Microsoft expects that the Windows Phone 7 will dominate the rapidly expanding smartphone market which is controlled by Apple and Google Android. Microsoft aims to regain its lost shares in handset market, which is expected to overcome the sale of personal computers by 2014.

The market analysts predicted that 270m smart phones will be sold in 2010, up 56 percent than in 2009, and will grow to 875m by 2014.
I don't think Windows phone 7 will catch the smartphone market.

As previously google has also launched mobile phone in collobration with HTC called NexusOne but no one know or own it. maybe due to cost or any other reason but in present mobile market has number of players...Microsft can not overtake them :)
But the market analysis shows positive results by end of 2014.Let us wait and watch. :) :)
2014 is too long to go Nagalakshmi.Who knows what will be the technology then?
