Friends,

The verdict on that piece of land where a masjid known as Babri Masjid stood and some claim it be the birth place of Lord Ram, will be out on Thursday next.I am not concerned with who is right or who is wrong but just think of kind of bloodshed this issue has seen involving loss of innocent lives - all in the name of religion! I am reminded of a great saying of Benjamin Franklin which is in the title of the thread.

Good Night,friends!

We may not have a world without religion. But let religion not divide us. We are first human and anything else thereafter.
@Kumaresh

I am talking about that so-called religion which sanctioned Suttee system burning of widows with their husbands against which Raja Ram Mohan Roy fought and succeeded and so on!!!
If the word religion is not there, there would be something else to separate the humanity.
Religion is man invented. And now people are dying for the self invented issue.
Ohh!! I understood Chinmoy!! Thanks!!

I am strictly against to that pseudo religion where on the name of customs so many evil practices take roots and get water from so called religious leaders!!
Thanks Kumaresh! I am not talking about the beautiful tree but the wild and poisonous undergrowth of deadly weeds!!!
These so called religious leaders use religion as a mask to hide their sins and ill-activities from the world!!
But how long!! Everything has its end, so their too!!
Our social and religious reformers like Swami Dayanand,Vivekananda and Vidyasagar all they fought these in very difficult times and we too have to carry on this- may an eternal one!
So many reformers have come to make us aware of such people and stop such ill-practices. As you told, it is an ongoing war (dharmyuddh) against these Adharmik (so called religious) elements. Be the part of this war.
I think if such elements were not there then we would not have such outstanding social reformers as the ones you mentoned Chinmoy and several others!!

But all in all, bloodshed caused in the name of religions has far exceeded in numbers than anything else and its time to put a stop to this nonsense!!
Both of you are absolutely correct! We are discussing this issue in a context which requires all of us to do our bit to spread light in these gloomy hours!
It is need of hour!! Demand of time!! Something has to be done concrete!! somebody has to come out and eradicate these unholy elements and make the society free from this curse and make the life beautiful where love resides in the heart of everyone irrespective of cast, creed, culture and color.
That's absolutely right,Kumaresh! You have given expression to thoughts of many members!
Religion concept is introduced by man in olden days, inorder to get employment. And to seek the way for worshiping GOD.
But now this has been misused by politicians and many other religious heads for their own benefits.

As said by Kumaresh, We should aim a religious-free society.......
We have to redefine and refine religion and its role in our life! The religious works of all our saints and savants are part of our rich heritage and we should be mindful of this while attacking religion.Let us not throw the baby with the bathwater!!
Actually religions teach harmony. But here they are practiced without harmony.
A religion that creates division and disharmony should shunned by one and all!

Religion as such does not harm. There are closed communities based on religion that divide people and bring in many malpractices. The suggestion that work of saints be combined as common heritage is excellent. In this direction, akbar the Great had made an attempt to unite all and he introduced Din-e-ilahi. Later, Annie Beasant formed 'Theosophical society of India' which is based on common teaching and heritage. If we can weed out malpractices and inhuman practices from religion, this will be great service to humanity.
Excellent,Gulshan! I am very happy to endorse every letter of it!

well said gulshan ....why don't people understand this?humanity comes first and then everything else....humanity is the biggest religion, why don't they follow it as their religion.....
The young generation should never be mislead by the religious leaders who doesn't have the motto of serving mankind, rather minting money from innocent people. It is very shameful to see people fighting in the name of religion in India the land which is known for its humanity.
