When punishments are severe crime rate will come down. We see singapore and dubai as best examples.

Though we know this fact why it is difficult to implement it in a country like india?

"If there were no crime in this world, many would be left unemployed. Crime is an industry, like any other, and feeds millions--judges, policemen, jailers, and thieves. If you took away the beliefs of the masses, there would be even more jobless. What would the priests and holy men do? The scientists are no better, as they are a direct threat to the world. They have developed the means to blow up the entire planet. Instead of being alarmed, they spend their time awarding each other Nobel prizes.
I have earlier suggested in these columns that besides strictly punishing the culprits in accordance with law, repeated crimes should be followed by confiscation of the tools/ assets used in crime. personal Weapons, vehicles, buildings used in crimes should be immediately seized and after establishment of crime should be confiscated. Strict measures will definitely bring results. It appears that mere fine and simple imprisonment do not give desired results.

Gulshan! The views what you have shared is theoretically possible. How could this can be implemented?.If we try to eradicate crime, there will be more number of crimes!
Friends, How come some films like "INDIAN" wins great support from people?. It is a totally hypothetical film. But still people loved it.

People indirectly say that they want to have a crime free country. How to make india a crime free country is a million dollar question?
I think crime cannot be completely eradicated as it is nature of person and his mental situation that makes him/her commit a crime..One cannot predict the mind of a person..

But i too agree with nagalakshmi's statement that films like Indian though look good is not possible in real...It is somwhat impossible and sometimes innocents may also be killed if we follow such process..Even in encounters done by task force the some innocents are killed..

complete control on crime is not possible but fear can be created

A crime-free and criminal- free world exists only in Utopia. It's only the level of crimes that a society can live with that's the central question. India is faced with the dreaded reality of criminals ruling every aspect of our life. The crimes seem to pay in this land of Lord Buddha and Mahatma!
